how to decorate a Christmas tree
Target treekeeper

Tree Storage

Let's be honest, the most frustrating part (other than lights not working) is getting the tree out of the attic/basement. Husbands, I'm talking to you. Wives and girlfriends, this treekeeper is the gift that you didn't know you needed. My mom got this for us last year, and it made getting out our tree this year so easy. It's a pain in the ass to put on the first time, but after that it's a breeze. You just unbuckle, pull down the canvas, and then tuck it into the beige section at the bottom and pull the drawstring tight. After that, you can stuff it under your tree skirt or tree collar and you would never know it existed. When it's time to put it away for the year, just undo the drawstring and pull the canvas over the tree and fasten the buckles. Done and done.

Time For Ribbon

Next it's time to lay out my ribbon. I figured out last year that it is SO much simpler to cut the ribbon shorter and tuck it between branches instead of wrapping one long piece around the tree. I always do the ribbon first and then ornaments, but you could also save a few pieces for after ornaments to fill in any holes you may have.

Instead of using a star at the top, I like to use tons of crazy sparkling stick decorations. These are all from Hobby lobby. I start with the small leaves, then the gold fireworks, and lastly, I fill any spaces with the snowballs.
