Can we talk about this door?!? I found this little gem on the streets of Paris.

When I was a little kiddo, my mom and Memaw would take me with them any time they would shop. I was always thrilled to go, especially with the hope that I would score a new Barbie doll by the end of the day if I behaved. One thing I could not stand however, was antique shopping. I didn’t get it. Why are people wanting to buy old stuff? The thought of designing a room never excited me, unless of course it was my room and I was picking out  ribbon wallpaper and pink everything. My mom is an interior designer, so she really knows her stuff.

So, you can imagine how surprised my mom must be that now…I get it. Home decor is ahmazinggg. I guess it means that I’m an actual grown up now, because I’m just as interested in plates and and rugs as I used to be Polly Pockets and Dr. Pepper Lip Smackers.

You guys should be warned that I’m no expert at this, but I know what I like, and I know what I don’t. Most of my inspiration comes from my mom as I believe she’s the best interior designer there is. I don’t know why I didn’t get into this sooner, its like fashion FOR YOUR HOUSE. If you can’t tell, I’m jazzed, and I thought I would share some of my fav things out there right now with you guys! I’m going to be adding a decor page to my website, and start posting about interior design as well as fashion.

My favorite decor style is definitely palm beach inspired. Yes, I live in Kentucky, but all the more reason to be able to take a vacation in your living room, right? Below, I’ve included some more things I love broken down by item. I would love to hear what you think, or see what you love!

decortitlespillow

Time for some pillow talk. Accent and throw pillows can instantly transform a room. I’ve picked some bright and sassy options to give a little oomph to a space. Kate Spade makes some darling pillows–and of course darling everything else. You may notice that I have added some Kate options to every section, I can’t help it. Another great place to shop for pillows and pillow covers is Etsy, especially if you’re looking for something to really stand out.

decortitlesfurniture

Pretty pretty pretty. I can’t help myself. I always thought furniture was the most boring part of decorating, and boy was I wrong. There are so many creative pieces out there that are so unique and charming. Joss and Main and One Kings Lane have some of my favorite pieces right now, not just for furniture, but for everything!

decortitlesbooks

I’ve been collecting coffee table books for several years now, without a coffee table of my own, but that’s beside the point. Pretty books are an easy way to add style to any surface, whether it be a book shelf, coffee table, or bar cart. I’ve linked some of my favorites, but the list goes on and on. Books like this are also ideal to give for gifts, everyone can use a good book!

decortitlesgallery

When I think about the gallery wall I have in my head for my someday dream house, I get pretty hype. I’m hoping to do a picture wall full of framed black and whites. My parents did this in the house I grew up in and it was the most special part of our home. However, as you guys know I’m a color freak. In my office someday I’m planning a big gallery wall full of things that inspire me and make me happy. I’ve been collecting prints for a while now. I love the idea of mixing it up a bit–hanging fashion illustrations next to typography pieces, framing a special note from someone, and of course countless photos of Julep. My dream house will really be all about her anyway.

decortitleskitchen

As long as my kitchen is cute, I don’t need to cook, right? Okay so I plan to someday learn how to cook more than mac and cheese, but I’m more focused on a well designed kitchen. Think more Carrie Bradshaw, less Rachael Ray. I love black and white and pop of color kitchens, and I love my mom’s kitchen, which is black and white and navy, with a pop of color on the walls in a lime green. Again, Kate Spade takes the cake in this department.

It’s the little things. Accessories are what really up your game in your living space. Candles, flowers, trays, and any other pretties make a house your own. I’ve linked some of my favs, and I love the idea of combining accessories with a stack of coffee table books to create a unique space.

Hope you guys enjoyed my first home decor post! There will be many more to come! 🙂 I’m working on a special surprise for you guys. Let me know what you thought!
